If ANET actually gave Faction skills to prophecies for free, I for one would be complaining :P I bought factions, so I expect that there will be content only accessible to me.
Now that being said, you really aren't missing much, cool new skills, but my Tyria Necro and Factions Necro really aren't at any disadvantage if they were to face each other :P I mean, if you like the game and want the new stuff, eventually you have to pony up for new chapters Saving up $50 isn't that massively difficult
Now what I wish is that my Factions chars had something to gain from going to Tyria, seems there really isnt much for them to do get there :/

Given the choice - I'd much rather have the Proh skills than the factions ones. Most just aren't that great. Relax a bit. Youdon't need any of those skills to compete. If you gotta have them - then yes go buy it. But really - what do you think expansions are?? They expand the content!

Yeah there is nothing really better in Factions just skills are slightly different... you're just complaining because you are stuck with all the skills everyone is used to... Not to mention I've played through five times, on my sixth and for pretty much all my characters I use the same build i would in prophices.. in fact I like some of the skills better in prophices so I usually go over there when I get to Kaineng just to get the skills.

The only Canthan skills that I want to get for my ranger are the elite skills Broad Head Arrow but more importantly Trapper's Focus. Having an enemy stop attacking it's target to interupt you when your trying to lay a trap next to it is annoying.

Wait, you're angry that the game changed and you have to adapt? That's terrible.
The game is more fun IMO; You get into the action faster, you get elites faster, you get a full 8-man challenge faster, you get your max armor faster. You get to PvP on your PvE toon a lot (if you do the PvE/P 8-man challenges). There are better drops and more of them, there are challenging elite missions, there are new opportunities, there are titles, there are new skins for everything, there are new skills, old players who haven't logged in for months have come back to play.
Seems like a pretty good deal to me.
ps: How am I grasping for cash? I've gone from ~100k to 750k in the bank in the last two weeks. Be careful where and how you spend your money, it looks like you have a lot to learn.

One minor problem there is that districts in HA, Random, or Teams do not take GvG into consideration, and given that I've seen guilds with a rank of 10000+ in gvg, well, thats a lot of people that districts don't take into account. I'm not saying pve has more people than pvp, or visa versa, I think it's pretty close on both accounts.

Flesh golem sucks.
Think about it, it is flesh golem, not flesh golems
It is also an elite.
Even if you have your one flesh golem, so what? Verata's Gaze, Verata's Gaze. It is your opponent's flesh golem now!

It's not like it matters. MOST of the new skills are just copies of current skills, some with little added twists, etc.
But here's the question - would you rather pay 90$ every 6 months for a p2p games + any possible expansions, or 50-70 to keep up to date for GW?
They need to make money, after all the servers ARE free, so quit leeching and buy factions.
|
see this is the growing problem in gw today. it is people saying stop whining and go buy factions. well here lies the problem. everyone remembers what it was like before factions. we were told that factions was a STAND ALONE GAME. well if factions is stand alone why do they not have to buy phrophecies? all these people saying deal with it is bull. like you can honestlly say that it was fair for canthan players to be able to access tyria. can we enter cantha yes but why is this. it is because we bought another game that is why. canthan players should have to pay to get into tyria it is only right. anet has told all tyrian players as he said we don t care about your business cause we will always have it and we can do what we want when we want. just look at there rules lol it explains all.

The content for Factions players in Tyria is negligable at best and Honestly? It is fair. The Factions players are now the ones paying for the servers, bandwidth and maintainance that allows you to keep playing. I love the idea some people have here that ANet somehow owe them further FREE game updates just for playing the game. Prophecies players really should stop whining and count themselves lucky that the game(both prophecies and factions) is going to be constantly patched and tweaked because of the new releases existance.

What is that You have a 62 chevy? Ok have these airbags, and a warranty and antilock breaks that we put on our new cars.
You cant expect all the good things from factions without paying for the game.

Eh...your logic is about as good as your use of language.
If I dont have Prophecies my Canthan char cannot go to Tyria, anyone who has bought Factions but not prophecies CANNOT go to Tyria.
So, in short, Canthan players did pay to access Tyria. Get it now?
You can play either as standalone (even if you own both) or you can link them and get access to both 'lands' with the same char, you can also choose not to buy either Factions or not to buy Prophecies. That makes it a stand alone game, really, its not such a hard concept.
As for the rules, I dont know what you are referring to there, Anet doesn't allow some matters and I havent been able to find anything unreasonable in the EULA.

Well for pvp purposes, prophecies is no longer a stand alone game actually. You must learn and understand two new professions, their skills, how they change pvp (they did significantly), and how it won't be the same game you bought before, sorry.

To be competetive, one must have all chapter at this point. While if it drag to 10th-13th chapters, it might not matter anymore, but you would most likely still want at least 3-5 chapters.
Also, personally I am still having great success in random arena using only ch1 skills. Although I believe you would get all kind of discrimination from grouping with other people without ch2.

well i always love when people say that gw is a pvp based game but here is the problem with that. take a pure pvper that never has played pve. do you honestlly know why you are pvping? no you dont lol and there actually is a reason behind pvp in the pve story line so to me anyone who ever has said"sorry to tell you but gw is pvp based" needs to go play some gw stop worring about your rank and play the game. do the pvp ers honestlly think anyone cares wether or not you would have bought the game had there not been new skills? pve people would have then done the pvp cause it gives you the faction you need to own things. do any pvp ers honestlly think that your rank means anything in pve. you do not know how many times i have seen rank 9 nuker lfg. um okkkkkkkk 1.-pve npc s are stupid they do not in essence go straight for monks plus when monks run away they target something new. 2.-the skill setups that you use in pvp would get wiped clean when you pve beacause most skill setups are for specific things. a person can take hench and play pve. now don t get me wrong a pve build sometimes is no good in pvp. so for a pvp er to flaught his rank to me is just a joke. main point is everyone has to understand that there are 2 aspects to this game and wether you play 1 or the other this game is not based around just 1 of them this game is pvp and pve wrapped into 1. and when the pvp ers get off there so called high horses and pve ers stop crying about pvp and realise that when the game is setup before we play it you are gunna have two types of a game. and you are gunna have two sides battling over what is better. so live with it and do your thing.
